Tuesday Treat: Be Brave

Texture TuesdayLife often throws us a curve ball but it is important to remain steadfast. To realize that this too shall pass…

Today’s Tuesday Treat is especially dedicated to Kim who is going through some rough times. May God give you and your family strength as you paddle to calmer waters.

Black & White Friday: “Reflection”

BW water reflection I enjoy a good black and white photograph, and I am sure many of you do too. When I started post processing my black and whites, the one thought that bothered me the most was “how do I choose which image is good for black and white, and which one isn’t?”  Until now, I still struggle with this thought, I have yet to figure it out. Is there a secret guideline? Or is it all just personal preference?

How do I decide? I look for overall details and contrast, most images that I convert to black and white have enough light and dark contrast, this way the final image does not look flat and boring. Did I accomplish that on today’s Black & White Friday photo (please click on the image for a better view)? I will let you be the judge :)

Tuesday Treats: Spring Blooms

Daffodil

Image edited in Lightroom 4 and PSE 9. Kim’s kk_providence  at 25% softlight

I really love Spring. I mean, who doesn’t, right? The earth is bursting with beautiful blooms and glorious fragrance. The land is full of life. And when the outside temperature is just right, I could stay out all day…

C + J | An Affair To Remember

“Love knows no distance, it knows no bounds.”

Such is the love affair between Cheryl and Jasper. Two amazing people who overcame the distance; and defeated all the odds. Theirs is a concrete testament that true love conquers all.

It has been an inspiring experience, being given the opportunity to document (as a second shooter) such an amazing event. These are the highlights of that one unforgettable day. When Opportunity Knocks…

If you have been following my blog, you probably already know that I focus more on nature photography. This is how I started, many years ago, but I welcome every opportunity to learn and discover other types of photography. Late last year, I was approached by a wonderful wedding photographer, who believed in the skills that I have developed over the years. She offered me the chance to join their team. I highly encourage you to check out their site.

don't forget the detailsIt is an amazing opportunity. The trust that she has bestowed is just overwhelming. Allowing me to shoot side by side with her, and sometimes being offered to take the lead on some shots, is an opportunity of a lifetime. No, I am not being melodramatic. It is a serious expression of gratitude, because had it not been for her, I would not have realized how fun, exciting, and oftentimes nerve-racking wedding photography is. Am I ready to go pro? Probably not yet, but I sure have gained more confidence in my abilities as a photographer.

“Lourdes, from the bottom of my heart, thank you!”

Tuesday Treats | Vintage Pop

Gosh it feels like forever since I last updated this blog. My apologies to you, dearest. I got knocked down by a nasty flu a week ago, and then became extremely busy catching up with chores around the house right after. My weekends have been super hectic as well. Wedding season is here and I covered my very first wedding last Saturday. It went extremely well. I was given the opportunity to photograph the most amazing couple and had the chance to work alongside the most wonderful wedding photographer.  I will post a sneak peek of the photos I took in the next couple of days.

For today though, I’m excited to take part in today’s Texture Tuesday and Tuesday Muse.  I thought this photo would fit really well with Kim’s theme, which is centered around the word POP. The brilliant red center of the carnation petals exemplifies the theme, don’t you agree? I did apply a very subtle kk_havana texture to the photo, just enough to brighten the edges of the whole image. Can you tell?
